<< BackAlumni Elected to University Board of TrusteesMay 18, 2010 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan
University Board of Trustees elected Trustees and a slate of officers
at the May 11 annual meeting. Elected to the Board for the term expiring in 2012 are Mary E. Crego, Todd M. French and Byron S. Tucci.
 | | Mary Crego | | Crego,
a 1979 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, is a senior vice president at State
Farm Insurance Companies® and previously served as senior vice
president of the Great Lakes Zone. She is a board member of the Council
for Economic Education, Voices for Illinois Children and the Illinois
Chamber of Commerce, where she will become chairperson in June. Crego,
who resides in Bloomington, received a bachelor’s degree in English
from IWU and later earned the designations of Chartered Life
Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Property and
Casualty Underwriter. While at Illinois Wesleyan, she served on Student
Senate and played intramural sports. |
 | | Todd French | | French,
a 1993 Illinois Wesleyan graduate with a degree in music, has served as
an Alumni Association Trustee and has completed an ex-officio
membership on the Board of Trustees while he served as president of the
IWU Alumni Association. A resident of Dana Point, Calif., he is a
professional cellist and founder of StringWorks, one of the world’s
leading retailers for stringed instruments. French earned a master’s
degree in cello performance at the University of Southern California.
He was awarded the Illinois Wesleyan Robert M. Montgomery Outstanding
Young Alumnus Award in 2003. |
 | | Byron Tucci | | Tucci,
a 1966 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, is managing director of the Wells
Fargo Advisors office in Bloomington, working with endowments, major
insurance companies and financial-related industries. He also serves as
a consultant for many non-profit organizations. Tucci started his
career as an investment broker with Loewi & Company and some of his
first brokers remain with him today. Tucci received a bachelor’s degree
from Illinois Wesleyan with a double major in business and economics
before completing graduate work with the New York Institute of Finance. |
Elected to the Board for the term expiring in 2013 are Daniel E. Jameson and W. Thomas Lawrence.  | | Dan Jameson | | Jameson,
a 1980 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, currently serves as vice president
for marketing and municipal services for Republic Services, Inc. A
resident of Munster, Ind., Jameson previously completed a successful
executive career with ARAMARK and served as a consultant for several
years. He later joined Allied Waste Industries, which merged with
Republic in 2008. Jameson received a bachelor’s degree in history from
Illinois Wesleyan, and a law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law at
the Illinois Institute of Technology. |
 | | Tom Lawrence | | Lawrence,
a 1980 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, served as an Alumni Association
Trustee from 2007-2010. A resident of Lake Bluff, Ill., Lawrence is Tax
Managing Partner for Ernst & Young LLP. He joined the firm in 1980
after his graduation from Illinois Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in
accounting and received his CPA designation that same year. Lawrence
has chaired the IWU Accounting Advisory Council and serves as a
counselor for Illinois Wesleyan’s Accounting Leaders of Tomorrow summer
program for inner-city high school students. He is an active recruiter
on campus for student internships and positions at Ernst & Young. |
 | | Ceasar Douglas | | Elected as an Alumni Association Trustee is Ceasar Douglas. Douglas,
a 1975 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, is an associate professor of
management in the College of Business at Florida State University in
Tallahassee. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois
Wesleyan, and an MBA from Grand Valley State University in Michigan
before changing careers and receiving a doctorate in business
administration from the University of Mississippi in 1997. Douglas
serves on the board of directors of the Southern Management Association
and is a member of the IWU Minority Alumni Network. While at Illinois
Wesleyan, he was active in Student Senate, WESN and athletics, where he
received all-conference honors in football. |
 | | Marsha Guenzler-Stevens | | Elected as an ex-officio member is Marsha Guenzler-Stevens. Stevens,
a 1978 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, was elected President of the IWU
Alumni Association in April and will serve a three-year ex-officio term
on the Board of Trustees. She is director of activities and associate
director of the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland in
College Park, and also serves as adjunct associate professor in the
college student personnel graduate program. Guenzler-Stevens received a
bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois Wesleyan, and a doctorate
from Maryland in higher education administration, policy and planning.
A resident of Stevens, Md., she was instrumental in the founding of the
IWU Council of Women where she served as president for six years. |  | | Jean M. Baird | | Re-elected
as officers of the Board for 2010-2011 are: George A. Vinyard, class of
1971, president; Gilbert L. Dorsey, class of 1962, first vice
president; Herbert A. Getz, class of 1977, second vice president; and
Robert E. Field, class of 1967, treasurer. Elected as secretary of the Board is Jean M. Baird, class of 1980. Baird, who joined the Board in 2002, is one of the co-chairs of the Transforming Lives: The Campaign for Illinois Wesleyan. Re-elected
as trustees for the term expiring in 2013 are: Cathy T. Carswell, class
of 1965; Rebie R. Kingston, honorary class of 1996; Gilbert L. Dorsey,
class of 1962; Kathy Larey Lewton, class of 1970; David W. Gaffron;
Thomas J. Neis, class of 1970; Thomas O. Hansen, class of 1982; J.
William Roberts, class of 1964; John S. Horton, class of 1982; and
