Emilee is a fourth year medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford. She is a member of the Rural Medical Education Program, which trains students with a rural background to practice primary care in rural Illinois. Emilee plans on practicing Family Medicine in Northwest Illinois after completing her Family Medicine residency. She is interested in Obstetrics, and also plans on having that be a part of her practice. Outside of rotations, Emilee is also the President of the Family Medicine Interest Group, and is actively involved in conducting clinical research on mental health in rural Illinois.

Claudia continues to make great use of each of the primary areas she studied at IWU: theater, English and education. She has worked at several Midwestern universities as a supervisor in residence life and a classroom instructor. Working at UW Madison, Indiana University and UNC Charlotte have been rewarding -- and she continues to have a special place in her heart for the great life lessons she learned at Illinois Wesleyan. After receiving a Masters Degree in Education and with a continued fascination with adult learning, Claudia works as a Training Manager in the field of public health. Her workplace is the Public Health Informatics Institute in Decatur, Georgia.

After graduating from IWU, Debra earned her Master's
degree from Chicago State University in 1983. She
then worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative, trainer, and
manager for Mead Johnson Nutritionals. She later
worked for Ventiv Healthcare Sales and Wyeth Healthcare Sales. She
currently teaches high school English at Thornridge High School. She is
a licensed Real Estate agent, and has just begun her doctoral studies
at Argosy University in Educational Leadership. Debra has also stayed
active in the IWU community as Chairman, Co-Chairman, and Networking
Chair of the Minority Alumni Network. In 2001 she won the IWU "Loyalty
Award." She has three children, Candace, Nicholas, and Max, a current
IWU Student.

A writer with a passion for environmental issues, Katie Coleman enjoys explaining the earth's complex problems to audiences of all kinds. Now a grant writer and development associate at the Environmental Law & Policy Center in Chicago, Katie hopes to use her talents to assist IWU's female students interested in communications and/or environmental issues. "I hope I can help new graduates survive some of those scary, postgraduate landmarks that I experienced just recently," she says.

A 'hip' accountant, Julie Croxton enjoys combining her analytical mind, attention to detail and outgoing personality in her work as an auditor. At IWU she was active in the Accounting Society, a member of the Women's Club Volleyball team and a 4-year student assistant at the Business Office. Now Julie is an Audit Associate with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP in Galesburg, IL specializing in audits of the Healthcare industry. In her spare time Julie enjoys playing piano, scrapbooking, keeping up with her Doberman-Weimaraner puppy and being active in all levels of the United Methodist Church. She will always be a major farm girl at heart! Julie hopes to use her talents along with the ideals instilled in her by the many strong women who have touched her to empower the young women of IWU.

 Abby graduated from IWU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. At IWU she provided leadership to help relaunch and strengthen the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, and eventually became president of the group. While serving as president, Abby led a number of successful initiatives, including the Women's Health and Wellness Fair, now an annual event that provides health-related information to women on campus and in the community. Abby also served as a Student Member on the local YWCA Board of Directors and as a counselor for a local Easter Seals camp for children and adults with disabilities. Her passion for women's issues is evident in her artwork, which focuses on such feminist themes as motherhood, menstruation, and body image. Currently, she is attending graduate school at Columbia College in Chicago pursuing a Masters of Arts Management in Youth and Community Development. She works at Snow City Arts Foundation, an in-hospital arts education program, as a Program Coordinator.

Lisa focuses on developing investment strategies and the dynamic
management of client portfolios with specific expertise in portfolio
analysis and asset allocation techniques. Her team currently manages
$150 million in assets, a substantial portion of which is advising for
corporate 401(k) and defined benefit (pension) plans. Lisa has
extensive banking and financial planning experience having begun her
career at J.P. Morgan chase, where she ultimately became vice-president
of investments. Lisa holds bachelor of arts degrees in mathematics
and music from Illinois Wesleyan University, and attained the Certified
Financial Planner designation. She is also FINRA licensed, holding the
series 6, 7, 63, and 65.

Engineering Program, transferring to UIUC School of Civil Engineering in 1979.
She completed her BSCE in 1981 and her MSCE in 1982. She worked for the North
Central Texas Council of Governments in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX until 1999. There
she was a Principal Transportation Engineer. In 2000 she returned to Bloomington and opened
her own consulting firm, Dunbar Transportation Consulting. She is a
registered engineer in the State of Texas and
continues to work in transportation planning for clients in Texas and elsewhere. Julie resides in Bloomington with her
husband and their two daughters.

Upon graduation she became an associate in Chicago at Field & Golan and served on the Chicago Council of Lawyer's Board of Managers. After 5 years, she joined her father's law practice in Shelbyville. She is currently an active member of the Shelbyville Greater Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Boarman Roxy Theater. She also taught as an adjunct professor of business law and paralegalism at Eastern Illinois University. Most importantly, Elizabeth is a proud mother and wife.

Laura's career has included; Registered EI (Engineering Intern) in the State of Illinois, Senior Cost & Schedule Engineer - Peterson & Co. litigation support consulting firm - construction litigation - Chicago, Project Coordinator - Metra commuter railroad, designing & building parking lots - Chicago, and Michelmann Steel Construction Company - Quincy, IL, where she was named President in 2006. She currently volunteers for the Blessing Foundation as Chairman of the Nominating Committee and Grant Committee, Michelmann Foundation President, Recovery Resources VP & Former Secretary, volunteering in kids' classrooms. Laura has recently "retired" from the Symphony Board. She is also a member of Friends in Council (the oldest women's literary study group in the country) and another book club. Now a development officer for Illinois Wesleyan University, Celeste wants to use her talents to encourage IWU's female students to understand the importance of balance in life. "It is a misconception that women can have it all and that something won't suffer. Many times, it is the women who are on the short end of the stick. We need to understand balance and putting ourselves higher on our personal priority list," she says.

Now a substitute teacher, active member of the League of Women Voters, and person living with multiple sclerosis, Mary Ann wants to use her talents to teach IWU's female students to live a full and proper life of service to self and others. "Life is a tapestry with many diverse pieces. You must make decisions that will blend the pieces that will best fit into your tapestry for life," she says.

"We have to learn to live lives that are satisfyingly proportional — not necessarily balanced, but full of the people and commitments that matter," she says.

"I want students to know that changing their career path is okay, and that being a stay-at-home mom is okay, too," she says.

After relocating to Bloomington for her career, Elly has been active with the IWU Council of Women Conference each year. Not only has she had the chance to meet great students, but she has also met many inspiring IWU women alums. Elly actively supports the Women's Networking Group at State Farm. They explore women's business issues, career development, mentoring, enhancing their leadership competencies, as well as volunteer for civic opportunities.

After graduating from IWU, Loreene began a career in healthcare at a law firm interviewing patients for public aid at local hospitals throughout the Chicago area. During the next 15 years, she has worked in many facet of healthcare administration including physician and hospital contracting, national account management, HR outsourcing and operations. Working full-time. part-time, project work, and eventually working from home were all part of balancing work an home life. Loreene remains active in the IWU Community as a member of IWU's Greek Alumni Network. She also volunteers as a Brownie Girl Scout Leader. Loreene and her husband, Dean, an IWU alum, have three beautiful children.

Now a self-employed artist living in Alaska, Barbara wants to use her talents to help IWU's female students realize their potential. "Women need to know they don't have to settle for the lifestyle a man can give them," she says.

 Her past professional experience has been evidenced by her lifelong service to the community, as a hospital and office nursing leader, civic advocate and community volunteer. Starting her nursing career as an active member of the leadership team at Good Samaritan Hospital, Carole completed her Masters Degree in Science and then joined the administrative team of Provena Mercy Medical Center where she last served as Clinical Director of Nursing. While raising her children Carole continued to serve her neighbors in a variety of health promotion positions which included advance nursing care in the medical office and school settings, as well as through political board appointments including the Kendall County State of Illinois IPLAN Committee, Kendall Community Council on Wellness, and the Kendall County Mental Health Advisory Board. In addition to past membership on numerous Boards, Carole's ongoing commitment and the education of others is evidenced in her current work as a member of the IWU Council for Women, member of the Board of Directors for Gateway Foundation, chair of the Gateway-Aurora Advisory Board, member of the Provena Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board, member of the Lay Board of Trustees at Rosary High School, and President of Kendall County Women's Organization. She has been recognized as Person of the Year, Fox Valley Family YMCA and as Volunteer of the Year by the Kendall County Youth Service Board.

Jessica Lothman graduated with a BA in Sociology after two study abroad experiences in Ireland and China. Her travels have inspired her Graduate Studies in Educational Policy and Leadership at Marquette University where she is a Graduate Assistant in the Office of International Education. She has accepted an internship at the University of Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa where she will work in the Student Development Office. This internship is a 5-month experience starting in July. In her spare time she does photography and recently edited Centennial: Steaming through the American Century, a photographic history on the S/S St. Marys Challenger, the oldest boat sailing the Great Lakes. Jessica is keeping an online journal from Cape Town, South Africa, where she is working with the Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Western Cape, as a practical experience to supplement her studies toward a master of education degree in College Student Personnel. Molly McLay, '06 is happiest when she is using her intellect and her
creativity to help others. After graduating with a BA in English writing
and women's studies, she worked in publishing before deciding to return
to school to pursue an MSW from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. As an MSW student, Molly has served as social chair for her graduate college's student
association; educated university students on sexual health topics as
graduate assistant; and collaborated on multiple research projects with
faculty. She is now also employed at Prairie Center Against Sexual
Assault in Springfield as a medical advocate, providing immediate
assistance and support to survivors of sexual assault. Molly hopes to
mentor young IWU women through the council, helping them discover the
creativity and courage to truly find and follow their passions.

Barbara, a 1980 graduate of the IWU School of Nursing and current Chair of the IWU’s Distinguished Nursing Alumni Committee, serves her community as Executive Director of the Community Cancer Center and Foundation in Bloomington/Normal. Barb has combined her passion for nursing and service to the community into a thriving care center that focuses on the overall health of their patients and community. Her development activity for the Center has resulted in more than $8 M in charitable contributions. She currently serves as the President of the American College of Oncology Administrators and was recently recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Medical Administrators. Beyond work, Barb is active in civic groups throughout McLean County and the state of Illinois.

Now Owner/Vice President of Neis Insurance Company, Marilyn wants to use her talents to help IWU's female students who are looking to find a balance between their personal and professional lives. "Young women today have some difficult decisions to make regarding their commitment to their professional careers while building and maintaining healthy and happy personal lives and families. They don't feel empowered to put career goals aside for those of dedicated parenting without lots of guilt and conflicting emotion," she says.

| Sara Nelson Froelich '01
Sara is the Deputy Downstate Director
for U.S. Senate Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin. She has served
on the Senator’s staff since 2001, focusing on community outreach,
economic development, appropriations, transportation and immigration.
Sara also has extensive campaign experience. Most recently, she was the
Political Director for Senator Durbin’s 2008 re-election campaign. In
2002, she was a Regional Director for Senator Durbin’s 2002 re-election
campaign. In 2006, Sara worked on the Coordinated Campaign for Bob
Casey for U.S. Senate, Ed Rendell for Governor and Jason Altmire for
Congress in Western Pennsylvania. In addition, she was Campaign Manager
for successful mayoral races for the Mayor of Springfield in 2003 and
the Mayor of Quincy in 2005. Sara is a Minnesota native and graduated
from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2001 with a double major in
Political Science and International Development. While at IWU, Sara was
active in Student Senate, College Democrats, Model UN, Pi Sigma Alpha,
Spanish Club, and played soccer. She resides in Springfield, IL with
her husband, John and her new daughter, Naomi.

 After spending a year
teaching English to first-fourth graders in Hamburg, Germany, Jessica
is back in her hometown of Rockford. She teaches high school English,
sponsors a service club, and coaches sophomore girls' basketball, while
also working weekends at Saturday Kids Club, a weekly program for
children from low-income families in the Rockford area.

Kemi was an international student from Nigeria, Africa. She is a fun and outgoing person and loves learning new, exciting things and meeting new people. While at IWU, Kemi was very involved with the community. In addition to volunteering at Home Sweet Home ministries, Kemi served as the Executive Director of Up 'til Dawn, a student-run fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She hopes to combine her passion for science and service with her background in biology to care for the sick and less fortunate and to contribute to biomedical research. Kemi enjoys being a part of the Council of IWU Women and truly appreciates its service to the IWU community.

After graduating from IWU, Shannon took her passion for serving others abroad. She spent months teaching and dialoguing with high school students in Costa Rica about social justice issues, and then traveled to Senegal as a Rotary Cultural Ambassadorial Scholar. Shannon received her MA in International Development Studies from The George Washington University, and currently works for FORGE as a Site Manager of their projects in the Meheba Refugee Settlement in northwestern Zambia. FORGE educates, empowers, and enriches the lives of African refugees living in refugee camps and advocates for solutions to problems facing refugees worldwide. Kelly is currently working with the Peace Corp in Malawi. "I am very passionate about people standing up for themselves and being able to express themselves how they see fit. I think that everyone's opinion is valuable and that they should be heard if they so choose," she says.

Now a development officer for The University of Chicago, Beth's first job out of college was with the Feminist Majority Foundation in Washington, DC, where she was a campus organizer and press secretary for the organization for 3 years. After returning to IWU as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Beth found "her calling" in higher education and began working towards her Master's degree in Educational Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois while continuing to work full-time at IWU. After completing her degree, Beth moved to NYC, where she was hired as a Senior Development Officer at New York University. She recently moved to Baltimore, MD where she works full-time from home and is the proud mom of a son, Noah. Through her involvement with the Council for IWU Women, Beth hopes to help other IWU students find their own passions and create a life reflective of what's most important to them. "You can't have it all, but you'll figure out what's most important to you as you go," she says.

Laura is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon an private practice here in Bloomington. After graduating from IWU with a degree in Biology she went on to graduate from medical school and complete two surgical residencies at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. She earned her board certification in General Surgery as well as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She entered into private practice in 2004 and finds daily challenges balancing career and family. She is happily married to an orthopedic surgeon and has three beautiful children. And we are currently at 16 locations throughout the state.” Molly is the unofficial marketing director for the entire Diamond Brothers Insurance Agency, Inc. and manages the Savoy location, as well as selling and servicing her book of business. Vanessa received her BA in Business Administration and English with a concentration in Writing from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2000. She also received her MBA with specialization in Finance and International Business in 2007. She is a former Senior Financial Analyst at Kraft Foods Global, Inc. In her position, she was responsible for centralized reporting, including monthly and year-end financial division close coordination. Vanessa has volunteered with Ladder Up (formerly Tax Assistance Program) for the past eight years, helping to provide financial services for Chicago’s working poor. Prior to joining Kraft, she worked as a tax consultant for two years in the Chicago State and Local Tax practice of Arthur Andersen LLP. Currently, Vanessa is a senior manager at Thompson Tax and Associates in San Francisco.

Ann Stroink received her B.A. in Biology from IWU in 1976and her M.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1979. She was a fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada in 1985. Before that, she did her Internship and Residency at Mayo Clinic in Neurological Surgery. In 1994 she did Skull Base Surgery in Japan. Ann is a Board Certified Neurological Surgeon. She was the President of the Illinois Neurosurgical Society and the Director for Continuing Medical Education, Central Illinois Neuroscience Foundation. Ann has taught Neurosurgery at various institutions since 1986.
She is currently a Faculty Physician at BroMenn Healthcare System. She has been a board or committee member for many local organizations as well as for the American Medical Association and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Ann has received many awards for her work. Some include being named Faculty Physician of the Didactic and Clinical Sessions for 2006/2007 and for Didactic Sessions in 2007/2008. She also received the YMCA Women of Distinction Award in 2008. She was name the IWU Outstanding Young Alumnus in 1986.

 Abby is an Assurance Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers where she works with clients in the media industry. Through her position at PwC, she has also been involved in campus recruiting and the Juniors Achievement Program for the Chicago Public Schools. She is also a founding member of Ninth Period Emmaus - a sketch comedy/improv group, whose performances benefit south suburban charities and Catholic Schools. Pat Wilson received a B.S. in English Education from Bucknell University in 1968, an M.A. in Library Science from West Virginia University in 1973, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois in 1993. She spent 31 years in the public schools in various roles that ranged from high school English teacher, School Media Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator, and Assistant Middle School Principal to 10 years as a Principal and Coordinator of a program serving 360 at-risk/special needs pre-kindergarten children and their families. In 2004 she was named Executive Director of the Council on Teacher Education at the University of Illinois, a position she left to join her husband, President Richard Wilson, at Illinois Wesleyan.
A creative organizer, Pat enjoys working with people to reach consensus and achieve compromise in order to move forward. She currently serves on the board of the Westminster Village retirement community, and on the Programming Committee at the Baby Fold. Since coming to Bloomington, she has also chaired the YWCA Circle of Women fundraising effort, and, along with her husband, the American Red Cross Evening of Stars fundraiser. She spends most of her time now working with her husband on behalf of IWU, which includes planning and participating in 40-50 annual events at the President's house, as well as traveling to out-of-town alumni events and meetings with individual alums.

Tracy received a dual degree in Business Administration and Accounting
from IWU. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA),
where she recently served as President of the New York Chapter and
continues to serve on the Board of Governors. She serves the profession
as a member of the International Membership Committee for the IIA where
she partners with colleagues around the globe to further the status of
the profession. Tracy is also a member of the Financial Women's
Association, the Securities Industry, Financial Markets Association,
and the Association of International Bank Auditors.
Tracy is now
a Managing Director and Head of Internal Audit for Calyon, Credit
Agricole's Corporate and Investment Bank subsidiary. Credit Agricole,
headquartered in Paris, France, is the fifth largest bank in the world
with branches and operations in 66 countries and 135,000 employees
throughout the world. In her current role, Tracy is responsible for
overseeing financial, operational, and technical audit activities for
the US, Canada, and Latin and South America. She sits on the audit
committee for Banco Calyon Brazil on Sao Paulo and is a member of the
firm's Management Committee for the Americas. Prior to Calyon, Tracy
was with JPMorgan Chase, where she was the Client Service Partner
responsible for all consumers banking and credit audit activities in
the US.
